Martha Stoumen has been an innovator in California's natural wine scene for a few years now. Since her first vintage, she's been highlighting the Golden State's diverse terroir by reviving derelict vineyards, honoring maligned varieties, and generally playing by her own rules in a state typically known for legacy operations based in Napa. Post-Flirtation is a perfect example of Martha's pioneering style: it's a playful wine made to exacting standards, a field blend of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Muscat Blanc from inland Contra Costa County balanced with a bit of biodynamic Vermentino from San Joaquin County. Bright with a salty minerality and a touch of lemon oil, it's California in a bottle, really, and at 11% ABV is just the thing for summer. Drink by the ocean, with stuff from the ocean, or when you just want to feel close to the ocean.
