Gado Gado and its sister restaurant Oma's Hideaway make some of Portland's most exciting food, and Chef Thomas Pisha-Duffly's creative riffs on Indonesian cuisine have been a hit with diners for a couple of years now. One of their most popular menu items is the Sweet Potato Dumplings, savory and pillowy and delicious. Pureed sweet potatoes are combined with scallions, ginger, sesame, coconut milk and Balinese curry powder and wrapped in a classic dumpling wrapper. They cook fast too: from frozen, boil them for 3-5 minutes, and if you really want to get fancy, brown them in a frying pan afterwards.
