Woon founder Keegan Fong has recreated his grandma’s favorite drinking snack: roasted peanuts tossed with dehydrated sea moss and konbu salt. This classic Shanghai snack is milder than a lot of other Chinese bar snacks, as folks around the Yangtze River Delta region are less into fiery chilies and more into subtle, nuanced flavors. Sea moss is just that: a moss that clings to rocks along the shoreline, and it has a taste similar to though considerably milder than seaweed: a touch briny, definitely oceanic and perfectly salty. We eat these straight out of the bag, but I bet they’d be delicious incorporated into salads and rice bowls too.
